An Ode to My Navel

Dear Bellybutton -

Why, hello! I have not seen you so up close since, well, ever.

This sudden and progressive shallowing has me wondering a few things: Will you pop out entirely (like the timer on a thanksgiving turkey)? Also, when and if you do, will you make a noise? If so, please do not pop out during class. This would be terribly distracting to my students.

Now that I am thinking about it, please do not pop out at night, either. It might scare my dog...and I would hate for him to pee on my new body pillow.

Huskymania

The Scobey Family had a unique experience today. We, along with a few thousand others, cheered the Lady Huskies on to victory against the Pittsburgh Panthers. Actually, in all likelihood they could have won without our help...the score ended at 95-42. It is true what they say: Connecticut is Husky Country. Being number one (and feeling secure in your March Madness pick) feels pretty good.In other news, my husband is now a baby-holder. At church this morning Caleb, one of our friend's sons, kept making googly-eyes at Graham and reaching towards him. The end result of those googly-eyes was that Caleb got Graham to hold him for most of the service. I just thought I would share because...well...mostly it made me really warm and fuzzy inside.

But not as warm as fuzzy as when later, at Home Depot, Graham says to me: "Can you just have Evie now? I am really excited about having a baby."

BE. STILL. MY. HEART.

He is going to be such an amazing father.

Karate Kid (Wax On...Wax Off)

For the past several mornings Evie has woken me up right at 7:30 AM by knocking on my womb...with her foot. She has got to be one of the most active little boogers in the world. It makes me so happy. Every little thrust and roundhouse remind me that she is doin' just fine in her little world. I am excited for her to be doing fine in my world, though. I cannot wait to meet her!

And don't worry everyone (ok, ok...Graham and Mom...) posting will continue as usual. I cannot stay away. I am addicted to blogging. I am a blogoholic. There is no cure.

Good Things

I am making a preemptive apology here: I do not understand how or why it happens...but it inevitably does. Life gets busy.

Truthfully, we are so thankful for the busyness. It is all related to the amazing things that we both have going on in our lives right now:

1. Our healthy little girl (We had a doctor's appointment today and got our 2nd trimester screening work back...and she is perfect. We already knew this, but breathed a small sigh of relief non-the-less).

2. Graham's new job (Every night we are reminded by the increasingly-depressing 10 o'clock news what a precious gift this job is. Not to mention the fact the he is head over heels in L-O-V-E with it...so that helps. He is in such a freakin' good mood like...all the time now.)

3. Ashley's schoolwork (As if we did not have enough going on already, I took it upon myself to sign onto a big research study on sibling relationships...it is going to be ridiculously time consuming...but so awesome.)

So...all that said...my preemptive apology is that, I AM SORRY, posting will not continue at its' break-neck pace of every 48 hours. I will shoot for a couple of posts a week...

My Snow Family

Each time it has snowed this winter we have tried, to no avail, to make snowmen. Apparently there is a very specific consistency that the snow has to be in order to accomplish said task. Who knew. Well, this week brought with it a couple of exceptionally warm and beautiful days (like 47 degrees...what! what!) which melted the snow a little bit and made it perfect weather for the creation of snow people.

We made our whole little snow family...and we probably had way too much fun for two grown people...but oh well. I so totally love living in Connecticut.

On another note...as if I am not preaching to the choir...pregnancy does the STRANGEST things to your body. I am just minding my own business, vacuuming the house today, and I start leaking....from there. I am only 23 weeks. Not. Okay. Thankfully I have good friends to talk me down off ledges sometimes. Like when I get boob juice on my arm. Eeeeewwwwwww!

SWATCH MADNESS!!

We have been making some major nursery progress around here lately...mostly on the planning end of things but still, it feels pretty exciting.

Here is Evie's bedding that came in late last week.

The one big "splurge" that we are buying for the nursery is this amazing rocker/glider from The Land of Nod. We were going to go with a cheap-o rocker from Target, but then several women (who know much better than I) advised that, if we spend money on any one thing, that we should spend it on the chair...since that is where we will be spending the majority of our time sitting/nursing/sleeping/pulling our hair out for the first few months.

So, in light of that advice, I did a ton of research and this one seems like it is going to be amazing. I am really excited about it. On that note, the swatches for the chair and ottoman came in today and I am having a hard time deciding which one to go with.
What do you all think? My very favorite is the pink, but I cringe at the idea of spending $1,000 on a chair that we wouldn't be able to use if we ever have a boy...so I think my second choice might be the green. The swatches are in the upper right corner of the pictures, I put them on top of a sham so you could compare it with the other colors going on in her room. Opinions??The walls are going to have white wainscoting on the bottom and either yellow or green paint on the top...we have not decided which yet.

My Wii Fit Thinks I'm Fat

I know that pregnant women are supposed to gain weight...but someone really should tell my little-white-crap-face of a gaming system that.

Every time it calls me "overweight" or "unbalanced" I want to burst into tears. I plead with it: "I'm six and a half months pregnant!" I say...it does not understand. I don't even think it cares about my feelings at all. It hurts. It hurts almost as much as my husband constantly comparing me to Tina Fey's character on 30 rock. I get it. I like food. OK!
